About the event
Solstice Dawn Walk — Roundham Head to Goodrington Sands
The summer solstice is the longest day of the year, and this walk begins at its very first breath.
We'll gather at Roundham Head in Paignton at 4.30am as the sky begins to soften, and together we'll be still enough to notice the world waking up. The dawn chorus building note by note. The light shifting across the water. The particular quality of silence that only exists before the day really begins.
This is a slow walk — unhurried and attentive. We'll move gently along the South West Coast Path from Roundham Head down to Goodrington Sands via the zig zag, but the walking is almost secondary. What we're really here for is presence - the sensation of this stretch of coastline at its most quietly extraordinary.
Woven through the morning will be live handpan music by walk leader Lyndon Forster,…
